New Life House Number One

This interesting house was built sometime in the 1800's. When we were replacing the plumbing many years ago, old caved in tunnels were found under the house. We were told that the house was once used as a safe haven for runaway slaves that were trying to escape their bondage. It is certainly appropriate that it is now being used by individuals attempting to escape the bondage of alcohol or other drug addiction.
There are no tunnels to sobriety so we recommend the steps.
The fourteen members and one house manager that live there do not call it House Number One, they refer to it as home. We do not want people to feel that they are "clients" staying in our house, but hope that all members consider New Life home while they are there. If you want to paint a mural on your bedroom wall, go ahead, it's your wall.
The outside has plenty of shade trees and is a very relaxing setting for recovery.
